Stone - German Lobby Cards

Something from the peripheral with a lot of connections to Mad Max from cast to crew, here's a set of German lobby cards from the movie STONE. A movie where the distributors were ballsy enough to directly reference Mad Max with two different taglines in their publicity materials, so... Before Mad Max there was STONE!

Beyond Thunderdome - Irish Press review

Here's a review of Thunderdome from the Irish Press newspaper in 1985. After reading it I had to google Heath Robinson to try and understand where this analogy was derived from. It may not have been the intention of the filmakers but the Robinson comparison of the vehicles fits like a glove, intended ,(unlikely), or not. I love all the Mad Max movies, but Thunderdome elicits my pity also. I could list dozens of misfired ideas in it but at almost forty years later, I'll bury my disputes with it and hang on the few moments that it really shines. Here's some Heath Robinson to go with the article.

Cinema Papers - Australian Dystopia

Here's an article from Cinema Papers that covers Australian dystopian movies up until the end of the 80's. The Australian film industry was smaller and somewhat more insular then as opposed to today and through the article you can cross reference and connect people that were part of of these productions. Two significant productions from this period, Hard Knuckle and Sons of Steel, are omitted from the piece but I suspect they may have just missed representation by mere months between publishing of the article and their release dates. Hard Knuckle also features two Mad Max alum's, Steve Bisley and Kjell Nilsson.
