Neil Marshall's Doomsday

Doomsday has an agenda to pay homage to the culture of the eighties that anyone who's a fan of genre movies and music from that era would readily understand and appreciate in their referencing. There is however a whole lot more going on here and dare I say it maybe even too much for one movie. Doomsday is absolutely saturated in nods and winks. Mad Max and Escape from New York are of course the obvious references but there's also Aliens, Max Headroom, Highlander, Brazil and tons more! Some are very subtle and ambiguous and possibly coincidental but half the fun of watching the movie is catching on to these moments. It's not just a movie, it's a tribute and Neil Marshall took a great risk in putting it out there and from those who get it we are very grateful!
